Program Framework has extended G-Cloud service offerings
We are delighted to announce that our application for G-Cloud 10 has been successful. We have been a G-Cloud supplier for many years now and the continued growth of this framework is mirrored by the growth of our own Public Sector practice. For this iteration we have further diversified our services on offer, to provide comprehensive consulting, adoption and support for Microsoft’s Cloud PPM solution Project Online.
We have seen a significant rise in demand for solutions to support Public Sector transformation, and we have built up an amazing track record of successful engagements that have really made a difference to our customers – a range of case studies tell some of those stories. We are working on some very exciting, innovative deployments for government and public sector agencies right now, and look forward to sharing those case studies in the near future! One of our latest case studies describes in the customer’s own words how a Project Online platform can be instrumental in achieving something quite challenging: Getting multiple departments within the organisation to agree on a common process for project delivery, and implement this process with the help of a single shared PPM solution.
Cardiff Uni have managed this, by focussing on a key PPM feature: the project status report. By designing a single report layout that would work for all portfolios, it has driven a common data set (to populate the report in terms of RAG status, progress narrative, milestones, risks, issues etc.) and helped to devise a shared process in terms of reporting frequency and governance.

We look forward to the PMO Conference this week – it is amazing how popular this event has become. So many of Program Framework’s customers will be attending this event – we look forward to the introducing them to each other and socialising afterwards (thanks PMO Conference team for organising drinks!).
More than anything we are excited to co-present with our customer Nottingham Trent University. Before working with us they struggled with all of the typical PMO challenges – inefficient reporting processes, resource demand management, stakeholders engagement etc. Their head of PMO Chris Ward will describe their amazing PMO transformation story, with some practical advice on how to emulate their success. If you’re at the conference, come and join us for Session 1 in the morning. Continue reading >>
How can you deploy Microsoft Project Online, Power BI, Planner and more to achieve results rapidly?
“Digital Transformation” is the buzzword of the age, and for modern PMOs this means they are busier than ever. Gartner cites a whole range of 2018 Hot Topics for PPM, such as Demand Management, Resource Management, Programme and Portfolio Management, Reporting & Dashboards, Strategy realisation and so on. Yet many PMOs are still held back by inefficient manual processes, disconnected data sets and the ever-ongoing struggle of engaging stakeholders.
If your organisation is deploying Office 365, then you hold the key for changing this rapidly.
Join this 2-hour session at Microsoft Edinburgh to find out how your PMO can transform itself in a very short time. What are your most burning priorities? Milestone governance? Time recording? Document management? Consistent, instant reporting? The list may go on and is personal to you, but with Project Online and a focus on what’s most important, cloud tools can be implemented for your teams that are easy to use, collaborative and time saving. Microsoft have just announced a significant update to Project Online, now allowing for up to 30,000 projects to be stored. This is a massive increase from the previous published limit of 5000 projects. Better still, every one of those project can have its own project site. This is clearly a great piece of innovation, and the result of Microsoft investing much of its R&D budget for the product into performance and scalability improvement.
You can find the full detail of this announcement here. Continue reading >>
Implementing a PPM solution like Project Online has the potential of delivering significant benefit to your project teams, management and whole organisation. Increased efficiency, more timely and consistent information, improved resource utilisation, a more strategic project portfolio, and ultimately increased project success – a lot to aim for. Be aware though: The role of the Project Support Office (PSO or PMO) is crucial in turning this potential into reality.

How many PMOs are there that receive status reports in Excel, Word or PowerPoint format for each individual project, then extract the data manually to create executive reports? …which are then distributed to management via email using those same disconnected file formats?
Pretty much every customer we work with wants to improve this process, for obvious reasons: countless days are being wasted, executive reports are of limited use and delivered with delay, decision making is compromised. Continue reading >>
Technological innovation and the future share many parallels. Both are unpredictable, both are anticipated with enthusiasm by some (and with apprehension by others) and both come around faster than we ever think possible. The cloud and the great spread of connected devices and apps have transformed the way we communicate, collaborate, and accomplish our tasks. Continue reading >>
We write a lot on this blog about the benefits of project portfolio management and what the right solution can do for your organisation. We usually focus on these positives from a business process point of view: how your project management office can incorporate vital data into its practice; have a broader, as well as deeper, view of a project’s resources; present complex information in a simple to understand visual format. And what that means for an organisation in a very practical way, i.e. how it can affect production, help you budget effectively, and provide a real ROI that will show up on your company’s bottom line.
