Microsoft have just announced a significant update to Project Online, now allowing for up to 30,000 projects to be stored. This is a massive increase from the previous published limit of 5000 projects. Better still, every one of those project can have its own project site. This is clearly a great piece of innovation, and the result of Microsoft investing much of its R&D budget for the product into performance and scalability improvement.
Implementing a PPM solution like Project Online has the potential of delivering significant benefit to your project teams, management and whole organisation. Increased efficiency, more timely and consistent information, improved resource utilisation, a more strategic project portfolio, and ultimately increased project success – a lot to aim for. “The benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the UK computer industry”
The UK IT Industry Awards were held on the 18th November at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London. The event was really something to behold: with over 1300 attendees, the awards brought together some of the industry’s leading members for the biggest IT event of the year. Hosted by the comedian Stephen K Amos, there was live entertainment in a magnificent marquee, a champagne reception and brilliant three-course meal.
The awards focused on the contribution of individuals, projects, organisations and technologies from all around the UK that have excelled in the ‘usage, development and deployment of IT in the last twelve months‘. We’d like to start things off by saying a huge congratulations to all entrants, as getting to this stage was no small task!

When you think of the legal sector, Project and Portfolio Management isn’t something that you’d think would have a connection, right? You’d be correct. Much like Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, the relationship between the two wouldn’t necessarily be classed as natural. Law firms – and lawyers in particular – tend to be more au fait with document and practice management systems to carry out their daily tasks. Systems that have helped them work effectively and efficiently for a number of years now.
However, with changes in the law and changes in how clients now expect the legal sector to work – i.e. less emphasis on just billing and more on being transparent, providing better value for money, assurances over project duration and completion dates.
